Project Overview

KyraHosting was a global web hosting and VPS platform I founded from scratch in 2016. I served as both CEO and lead systems engineer — building the technical infrastructure, developing the automation layer, managing client operations, and growing the business to 600+ customers across 30+ countries over seven years.

The platform delivered high-performance VPS hosting, dedicated servers, game servers, and web hosting solutions at competitive price points, enabled by a highly automated infrastructure that kept operational overhead minimal. In 2023, KyraHosting was successfully acquired — with the infrastructure and automation systems I built forming the core of the acquisition value.

What I Built

🏗️

Infrastructure & Cloud Architecture

  • Deployed Ubuntu/Debian systems in OVH data centers across multiple geographic regions
  • Designed disaster recovery plans with redundant systems across data centers
  • Implemented Docker containerization for service isolation and consistent deployment
  • Created automated deployment pipelines for consistent, repeatable server provisioning
  • Built scalable environments optimized for both performance and cost efficiency
⚙️

KVM Virtualization & VPS Management

  • Provisioned isolated KVM virtual environments with custom resource allocation per client
  • Developed custom VPS templates for rapid, standardized deployment
  • Implemented live migration capabilities enabling maintenance with zero client downtime
  • Built resource monitoring systems to detect and prevent performance degradation
  • Optimized server utilization ratios for cost-efficiency at scale
🤖

Automation & Platform Development

  • Built fully automated billing, provisioning, and account management via WHMCS
  • Developed custom scripts for daily automated backups and disaster recovery
  • Created API integrations connecting third-party services into the hosting workflow
  • Implemented automated security patching and update systems across all servers
  • Built automated performance tuning that adjusted configurations based on usage patterns
🔒

Security & Networking

  • Configured UFW and iptables firewalls with custom rule sets per server role
  • Implemented DDoS mitigation strategies protecting client infrastructure
  • Managed VPNs, routing, and secure network architecture across data centers
  • Deployed intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS)
  • Conducted regular security audits and network segmentation to isolate threats

Reliability at Scale

At 600+ clients across multiple continents, uptime isn't a feature — it's the business. I built a multi-layer monitoring and alerting system that caught issues before clients noticed them.

Site24x7 & UptimeRobot

Real-time performance tracking and uptime monitoring across all services

Custom Dashboards

Comprehensive system visibility for CPU, RAM, disk, and network across all nodes

Automated Failover

Critical services routed automatically to redundant systems on failure detection

Predictive Alerting

Trend analysis to identify degradation before it became client-facing downtime

Building the Business

Running KyraHosting meant wearing both hats — systems engineer and CEO. I handled pricing strategy, client support, partner relationships, financial planning, and marketing alongside all the technical work.

Grew from 0 to 600+ clients across 30+ countries over 7 years
Developed pricing strategies balancing competitiveness with sustainable margins
Built a customer support system maintaining high satisfaction ratings at scale
Created partnerships with complementary technology and infrastructure providers
Managed financial planning and resource allocation for consistent growth
Successfully exited via acquisition in 2023 — infrastructure became key deal asset
Successful Acquisition — 2023

KyraHosting was acquired in 2023. The Linux infrastructure, automation pipelines, and monitoring systems built over 7 years were key assets in the deal.

KyraHosting became a fully automated, globally accessible hosting platform. The technical foundations I built — automation workflows, monitoring systems, containerized infrastructure, and security hardening — were the primary value drivers in the 2023 acquisition. Seven years of running production infrastructure for hundreds of clients gave me a deep, practical understanding of reliability engineering that directly informs every project I take on today.
